Create a Channel from Coda to Slack isn't working

I’m trying to make a Channel in Slack from Coda, the configuration is so easy and it should work. However it doesn’t work, it just says " could not create channel"

@Jason_Briggs
Hello,

Could you be more precise about what is not working? When does the error occur?

Sincerely,
Thierry

I add a button from the slack integration for adding a channel. It never worked. I just want to add a channel

It works for me, as you can see in the screenshot.

Sincerely,
Thierry

I can send a Slack message like you are showing, but I can’t add a Channel. What we are trying to do is from Coda every-time we create a new Project, we want to Create a new Channel in Slack with the same name as the project.

So I created a new channel and it works too, I also posted a message and no worries.

Sincerely,
Thierry

Hi @Jason_Briggs, so that we’re checking all areas here: the linked Slack account in question has the administrative allowance to create new public and private channels, correct?

Yes this is correct. I tried it with multiple accounts and both had admin access

One more question: are you attempting to create a public or private channel? Based on Thierry’s screenshot above, he was able to create a public channel on Slack.

I’m ok with either, it doesn’t give me an option in coda which one it is.

Do you have a sample of the channel name or title you’re attempting to create? I’m curious if there’s an unknown text limitation that we’re overlooking.

#fooBar

Maybe if u can make me a look video of u getting it to work, maybe it’s something easy I’m not doing

Thanks for that, Jason. So I’m curious if that capitalized “B” in your channel name may be the blocker. If we review the screenshot above, all new channel names are lowercase only and do not accept spaces or underlines, symbols (so don’t add the # in the source channel name within Coda, it will automatically be added when created in Slack) and only dashes.

Could you try to use Coda create a channel as foobar without the capitalized B to see what happens?

Hello @steph

,

I just did the test on my side and it seems that if you add a capital letter in your name as in my case codaFrench and well it causes an error when validating the operation even in a button

Sincerely,

Thierry

I’m pretty sure we tried that originally, but the good news is that it is working just fine now. So when I made everything lower case it ended up working. Maybe they can add a feature that says make sure everything is lower case if there is an error :} But thank you for your help
