How can we change hostname in kibana?

Hi all,

I am new to Kibana and i am going to take the Kibana Data Analysis Online Course. But before that i am learning kibana and I want to change the hostname in Kibana. By default, it is taking the localhost as hostname. Can anyone help me how can I do this?

Hey @jack_leo, I think you’re in a wrong community. This one is for coda.io, not Kibana.

That said, if you’re self-hosting it on your own machine, then it runs on localhost (127.0.0.1) and there’s nothing you can do about that. You can add a custom hostname to resolve to 127.0.0.1, e.g. in your hosts file (if you’re on Windows; and on other systems there should be a similar file, just google for /etc/hosts), but the server is still going to run on your machine and not be accessible from outer internet (unless you configure your router, your firewall, your dynamic DNS etc).
