Inheriting filters in new views/tabs and controlling tabs

Hi Coda community,

I wanted to ask if there’s a way (or if it’s planned) for new views/tabs to inherit filters from the original table.

Right now, when creating or duplicating multiple views of the same table, the filters do not carry over, and the view ends up showing the entire table. This becomes an issue when working with editor users, because while they need edit permissions, I don’t want them to have such easy access to all records without the applied filters.

In my case, I use views to control context and visible information, and losing filters forces me to redo them constantly or increases the risk of edits where they shouldn’t happen.

Related to this, I also wanted to ask if there’s a way to disable or limit tabs/views, to prevent users from creating new views without filters or easily accessing the full table.

Are there any current workarounds, or future plans for:

  • Inheriting filters when creating new views/tabs?

  • Blocking, limiting, or disabling tabs for certain users?

Thanks in advance! :raising_hands:

Hi Carlos,

have you tried to lock the page, leaving it in “interact only“? It will lock the possibility to add new tabs and therefore expose all the filtered data.
