Export as .docx or as google docs file

The ability to export to docx or google drive would be really nice to have in coda. I like to keep all my files, notes etc in one place, which is why i use coda, but sometimes i have to submit things as a word document.
I can copy and paste from coda into a empty document, but its quite annoying and doesnt feel as proper, so i would love yo see this in coda at some point!

Hi @Jacob_Bryant, isn’t the pdf export a possible solution to this?

Not really a suitable option if wanting to export for presentation or if Coda decides to fold.

Hi @Jai_Cheswick
In this case i would personally put the doc in full screen and i’ll take some screenshot, you don’t need vectorial or dynamic features so it should be fine

Mario, thats not a very elegant solution at all  Coda is a top of its game software and it cant export well ? Come on, are they kidding ?

They are open to suggestion
What is your specific use case?

If it’s for backup there are many possibilities, could they be another doc, a copy and paste approach (they are .csv  ), a pdf export as we were saying for high quality report (i agree with you that is still not perfect) or the good old api’s and then you’re free to do whatever.

I’m telling you this if you are in hurry to find a solution to export now, if you desire a better long term approach i agree with you that a .csv export option would definitely save some work (maybe programmable with a button? maybe also an upload .csv option? ) and some more settings for the pdf export would be lovely, but hey i’ve been using coda for at least 2.5 years with screen as best export option so you’re lucky actually :joy:

I’m writing a series of educational booklets and want to export the full doc.

@Jai_Cheswick i would suggest you then to try the publish feature! You’ll probably need just the “play nothing will be saved” setting

In this way your user will get all the dynamic feature of coda (like using buttons to switch pages, pressing buttons to express their reactions, change slider, control or numbers in a table to obtain interactivity, i could go on for hours :joy:) without possibilities of messing up your work, and it is always online

Yes, there are ways to lock the access

I suggest you to try this approach because coda docs live better into coda
In case, as seen as coda is pretty minimal you could just copy text and images and use the same font to obtain a similar layout, but i’m 99% sure that you like coda for interactivity reason

Update me with @Mario, i wanna try to solve those sad feelings

I’m having the same frustration… I’m using Coda to built grant proposals, and “exporting” that language at the end of the process is a bunch of copy and paste. Foundations have very strict submission requirements and don’t accept Coda Docs, ha.
