Grid to database and vice versa

Hi, I’m really glad the Grid functionnality just launched, thanks!

What I’d really like to see now is a way to generate a grid from a database. In particular, I’d like to be able to set up a table view of a given database with the right columns and filters applied, and then turn that view into a grid on a canvas. May be that could be done through an third option when you copy-paste a table in addition to “Create duplicate” and “Connected view”. But of course if I could achieve that by buttoning buttons that would be even more lovely.

And vice versa, when you have a grid that has grown too complex, it could be useful to turn it into a full-blown database.

I could use this a lot as well. To expand on this request, I’d like the capability to paste any data in tabular form into Coda (whether it comes from Excel, Word, Markdown, etc) as a grid. Right now it can only paste as a table if at all.

Found myself in need of this too.

This would be very helpful! We share our documents to users who will need to paste “grids” and not data tables into the document. The data tables that exist have their purpose and adding more would complicate things. Please make this!
