Adding new options to a select list on ios

Hi guys I’ve set up a wee app for creating my shopping list and I don’t seem to be able to add a new option to a select list on the fly? I can on desktop by clicking in the cell and typing but there does’t seem to be a way to trigger the keyboard on ios? Am I missing something?
