Perhaps it was the “Hide” doc feature. But that feature has big limitations like you can’t hide a doc you own.
Unfortunately there is no archive feature but I would love one and have been wanting to post feature request…so I just did! Consider up voting it.
This is the pattern I’ve been using that helps cut down on doc noise for me. While not as good as an archive feature it helps as things have grown.

Create a folder called “Archive”

Then hover over the star and click it. This removes it from from the list of Folders to keep things tidy

Place all archived docs in that folder

Manage all active docs via Starred folders (which show in the Folders list) and starred docs.
Perhaps some other power users also have some great suggestions on how to organize/manage docs as the number of docs grow?
