Canvas Preview - Set Character/Row Count

It’d be awesome when you enable the “Preview” for a Canvas column that you could specify a certain number of characters or rows to preview. Currently, the Preview appears to show the entire text that users enter into Canvas cells which makes the corresponding rows huge.

It’d be awesome to be able to select “Yes - preview” then something like “Show first X rows” of text. If the column is skinny it’d be less text than if the column were wide. Similarly, you could do it by character count, but I think the # of rows would be most useful.

Agreed, I think this is essential.

Literally, the whole point of the Canvas type is to have data in the column that is “More than one cell worth”. Right now the options are, “Show nothing at all” or “Show more than one cell worth.”

I like John’s suggestion of having a “rows” limit. I usually put a summary line at the top of most docs, so by setting this to 1, I’d get exactly what I want.

Completely agreed here, I run into this problem a lot and the ability to set a # of characters would be great.

A “don’t wrap, but show the start of each line until the column width cuts it off” option, combined with the max # of lines to show, would also be very helpful.
