Doc Ownership & Published Doc Links

Hello

I recently had someone in my organization make me an owner of their published doc. In doing so, the doc was automatically unpublished. When I re-published it the doc link changed to include my user account in the link. Unfortunately, because we can’t create a redirect, we now have to hunt down everywhere that doc was previously linked and change the link out (it’s in a LOT of places, so this is a headache).

Ipso facto, it has me thinking several things…

  1. What are the best practices for organizational docs that are public-facing? Should there be an organization account that is the owner of the docs? Does a human really need to be the doc owner? What happens when that human leaves your business? Should the URL simply not be attached to an individual account?

Would love to have clarity on this!
