So I love love love inline (canvas) formulas. I’m creating a daily journal page and I just thought of a feature I would use a lot.
I have a text column in my daily tracking page for sleep comments. In order to enter those in my journal page I am creating a view and filtering down to today’s row and only showing the sleep comment column.
If I could have an inline formula =[Today's Daily Tracking].[Sleep comments], where I could also edit the result area, it would be so much cleaner to enter my data. Instead of having a whole bunch of super filtered views on my page, I can just put editable inline formulas wherever I need them.
Maybe there are some situations where being able to edit that info so easily isn’t desirable, so make it an option you can select while entering the formula.
@Sarah_Arminta Canvas formulas are awesome AND you can do so much more with a table. By using the @ row mention + hiding the column headers & gridlines you can get nearly the same effect as a canvas formula with the added benefit that you could create it such that you can edit the values as you described.
This is a good example of where it would be useful:
Essentially, any time you are generating a document it would be nice to be able to edit the content that is generated without having to go back to the source table.
