In my layouts under the “show hidden columns” tab, how are these columns ordered? I cannot figure out how they are ordered, as far as I can tell, they are not ordered by any other table or alphabetically. Is there anyway I can manually order these hidden columns from the layouts.

It’s a good question, that I have too, but never took the time to address it.
It’s not possible to order the hidden columns too and at least it would be helpful to have them in alphabetical order listed.
For the time being I am mainly using the search option, but not always you know what to search for 
, and it could happen that you create a column with the same function/content twice
