Sort information through another column

The table below was created by linking it to another table where the information is sorted through the “Name” column.

However, is there a way I can search for information by the firm name rather than person name? I want to create another table with the same information but this time i want the information sorted based on firm name.

HI Sehar,

Welcome to Coda! I hope that you find the tool very helpful.

I am not 100% certain what it is that you want to do? It could be that you simply want to (1) sort the table in a different sequence at different times, or it could be (2) that you would like to have the same information presented in different sequences, both being available at all times. Or (3), you just want to be able to search on either of the columns at different times.

  1. One can sort a table in any sequence, by clicking on the column heading, and selecting the sort option, and the sequence you want. That will sort the table in place.

  2. One can have two different views of the table, each sorted in its own sequence. You would do that by creating a view of the table, and then sorting that view the way you want to. One does that by entering /table, and then rather than creating a new table, selecting the existing table.
  3. If you want to be able to automatically search through the table, this is the way to do it:

Create a search filter into the table by going to the column you want to search, selecting Filter from the dropdown, and then select “Create Control” This will create a search box that will allow one to search that column. One can add as many search boxes as needed to a table.

If I misunderstood you, please shout.
