Why do I find Coda less irritating than Notion?

No great insights here unfortunately. Tiny things like, on Notion, the page icon takes up and entire row in the viewport - irritating and unnecessary? Perhaps it’s because it’s built natively for the browser? Maybe feels more grown up in general.

notion formula language is awful!
the syntax is bizzare and they have so few functions.

notion has no actions. you cant automate anything.

notion api is poor.

i could go on.

i often do.

Those things plus the community is why I left Notion. Besides the functionality and great things that are possible, the support and community put it so far ahead of everything else. Notion just doesn’t cut it for the overall winner in my book.

Coda’s formula syntax and implementation (color coded hints with icons, so nice!) are certainly a big part of it, but the ability to add formulas that reference anything, anywhere in your doc– that’s the reason, for me.
