Prefixes are useful (and common practice among programmers).
But I prefer to add suffix symbols when designing data models in Coda (or other no-code tools).

It has the advantage of not being intrusive (much) for users (and even adding clarity in some cases). The big advantage is the improvement in productivity and accuracy.
