Can updating or changing a control trigger an action

Hi Codarians,
I am wondering if it’s possible to have a control that, upon change, it triggers an action of some kind. In other words, if you have a simple control that just allows you to put in some words and then when you hit the ENTER key it triggers adding whatever is in the control box to a table.
