Hi Coda Community,
I’m wondering if there’s an official way to run Coda inside a Docker container, or if there are plans to allow Coda to be installed and used locally on localhost.
The goal is to work with Coda in a local environment for data control, and development testing purposes, without relying on the cloud version. Ideally, this would be through an official Docker image or a guide for local installation.
Has anyone tried something similar, or knows if this is on Coda’s roadmap?
Thanks for any advice or suggestions!

Coda is a closed source, hosted solution unless I’m mistaken. I can’t see any path towards a self-hosted option in the future.
There is at least one alternative tool that is open source and runs in a container but I won’t be naming it here in case that conflicts with the rules but Coda is much nicer IMO.

I don’t think it’s against the rules, for example in this post we discuse about Coda alternatives
In this post for example we discussed about Coda alternatives: 🌟 Seeking Insights: What Are the Best Coda Alternatives?

Hello @coda ,
I have a large client who requires on-premises installation due to data governance issues. I would greatly appreciate it if you could let me know if there’s another solution available.
Cheers

I remain unsure what the community rules say about suggesting alternatives to Coda (and note that I’m saying an alternative because I did try a few self-hosted options and didn’t like them so they are alternatives and not recommendations) but if you search for “Self hosted alternative to Coda” or “Self hosted PKMS” using your favourite search engine then you will find results that you can go through. Note that some of the recommendations you’ll likely find are tools that really aren’t alternatives exactly (I feel comfortable naming Obsidian, Joplin, and LogSeq since they’re very different tools from Coda) so be aware that not everything will be what you’re looking for.

I don’t mean to be rude but if you’re being paid to provide a solution to a client then I’m not going to do your work for you unless you want to pay me my day rate. You can find what I found before settling on Coda in minutes with a simple Google search.
