Coda task creation from Slack channel?

My team and I switched from Asana to Coda for project and task management. However, we still love Slack for our team communication.

Oftentimes, we have conversations in Slack that result in, “Hey so-and-so, can you please do XYZ for me?” I would love to be able to send a specific message in Slack (maybe in a designated channel or in the Coda integration or something) that allows me to setup a task in our Coda project tracker FROM SLACK.

For example, if I could send the following message in Slack:

New Task: Competitor Research
Client: Emerald
Due Date: July 15, 2025
Assignee: Melissa
Project: Branding Package – June 2025
Task Notes: Please research the top 3 competitors and add them to the creative direction brief for this project.

Then, ideally, it would connect to Coda and create a row in our project/task tracker with that information filled in like this:

Is that doable?

Hi Rai,

I think that’s very doable by acting on messages of a dedicated channel or looking for keywords in more general channels, and then parsing the content to create a task. The main limitation here is that sync-tables in Coda can only sync hourly, so it can take up to 1 hour for tasks to be created after the message is sent

If you want an almost instant creation of tasks, you will have to use some glue like Zapier or Make.com.

Let me know if this helps!
