As the title says, it would be great for conditional formatting to also display within the detail view that appears when clicking on a data entry or card.
Put me down for a +1 on this.
Couldn’t agree more. I use conditional formatting extensively to give visual cues to my users about which columns have missing or improper data, and all that goodness is completely lost when they’re in details view.
Yes please. I would use this for two things:
-
Highlighting text that can be manually overwritten or entered, vs read only text (eg from formulas)
-
Using conditional format to highlight an area of focus
Thx - I know i am adding to an older post. This came up as I was searching for a solution in the community
I would specifically use to to quickly detect which row is what.
I have lot of canvas type columns. So at first glance it looks like a wall of text. and sometimes we have to look for the column name among all that text. If there are backgroun or text colors distinguishing the text from each other, it’d be quick and easy to comprehend while working in the detail view.
As eyes get used to with specific colour for specific column, user won’t even need to search for the column name, it’d quickly realise that the data for specific column is missing or there are only few pointers for particular column etc
I have found that adding some arbitrary text to a field on a detail view (in my case that a client has to complete), formatting the text and then deleting it again, retains the formatting for future text being filled it.
It’s a bit of a tedious workaround and of course this is not recommended if there are numerous rows, but it’s a hack nonetheless. In our case we want the client’s text to stand out from the rest of text on the detail view.
Really looking forward to simple conditional formatting on detail views.
If there is an obvious way to do this please let us know but currently it still seems to be a limitation in Coda.
