"Formulas not calculating"; "Formulas disabled: We are unable to calculate formulas in this doc. Contact support for more information."

This error just began this evening after no major changes. It’s on a business-critical doc used by 15-20 stakeholders. Huge emergency.

If it’s a size issue, Coda Docs say that we should be notified. But it isn’t saying size limit. Just that Formulas Are Disabled - which leads me to believe that they’ve been intentionally disabled by engineering? We also haven’t received any data limit warnings which, according to Coda docs, should occur first.

Anyone receive this issue?

Again - huge business emergency that needs to be addressed over the weekend.

Thanks! Fingers crossed, because we’re currently completely blocked and at a loss for what to do next.

Not able to get it resolved? Service team unresponsive?

Hopefully you didn’t have to recreate the Doc. That’s unfortunately really not an option for us.

This doc has 140 pages, 1490 controls and formulas, 80 base tables, and 445 views. Though the data size is only 91.5 MB, which is well below the doc size limit.

Yikes! That is a lot of data that you don’t want to lose. I hope the Coda team sorts it out over the weekend. Super stressful situation I am sure.

Has anyone experiencing this issue been able to create a shareable doc to validate this failure?

:waving_hand:t5: @Cain_Menard,

I’m Ayuba from the Coda product team and sent you a DM on here. I’ve given a heads up to our support (support@coda.io) team and they’re expecitng a note from you.

For clarity, while we do not have a hard limit of objects like buttons, pages, rows or tables (sync tables are the exception), we do have automatic guardrails in place to ensure docs continue to run efficiently. When a doc hits these guardrails, to preserve overall doc health & performance, we disable certain features are automatically e.g., the API or calculations, until the doc is brought back under the guardrails.

The doc owner will get email notifications, along with an in-doc message as you’re getting close or over these guardrails. We do have guidance here for how to investigate & reduce the doc size once this happens.

Looking forward to hearing from you, so we can take a deeper look.

Thanks, Ayuba! Super helpful context.

@Cain_Menard, we checked in with our support team, and it sounds like they were able to help with your issue. Please let us know if you’re still encountering any issues so we can help.

@Victor @Thais_Rasino, I’m sorry to hear you’re experiencing the same issue. Please email our support team at the email listed in Ayuba’s reply (support@coda.io), and they can help adjust your doc size so you can gain access to your formulas again. They have made some adjustments, so live agents support all customers with their questions.
