How do I force iOS keyboard to appear in Coda mobile app?

How does one enter the date without an onscreen keyboard option in the Coda iOS app?

The arrows only allow one month at a time movement. For obvious reasons this is not a solution.

Is this a bug? I’d love to hear any workarounds before I report it as such.

Is not an iOS bug, it is the way the mobile app works - same for android.
I have added a text field to my forms for people to enter their birthdate, which you can convert manually or with an automation to the be put in a date field. It’s not ideal, because you never know for sure what kind of format people will use when entering a date in a text field, but unfortunately, it has been like this ‘forever’.

Did you report it as a bug? The workaround you are using wouldn’t be necessary if one small update was made.

Is anyone from Coda reading this?

Believe me, this has been mentioned to Coda many times - the mobile app just isn’t on their priority list and it is not seen as a bug.

Welcome to Coda (I hadn’t reacted to your introduction yet).

While you are going to be giving this some attention, the problem is much broader than just the topic of this thread. There have been lots of remarks about the mobile experience and although I think I remember having seen a mention of this getting some attention in the future - it’s been quiet ever since.

With some tweaking by experienced makers the mobile version is usable, but it leaves a lot to be desired. I have asked for some minor improvements as long as 5 years ago, but it’s been quiet.

One major issue is that you can’t have a normal calendar view on mobile, which many of us could really use. Another one is the almost impossibility of entere dates a bit further in the past OR a bit further in the future.

If you think you can get some of these issues resolved, you might consider starting a new thread and getting some input first, so it can be addressed broader than just one or two issues. I am sure the community is willing to give you ample feedback.

Hey @joost_mineur! I just want to flag that this has been shared with the mobile team, since I’m currently on-site in SF, and it’s on their radar. Also, a good time to tease that we’ll be doing a mobile roundtable later this month with more info on specific dates soon! Would love to surface other insights, but that is for a separate thread later in the week or early next week.
