Launched: Tabbed views

Are we not able to have user-filters in each views? Maybe I’m missing something.

Love it. Would be great if we could also add tab views from other tables

Oh, another bug. When I have the table open twice (like in two different browser instances), and I switch tabs in one of them, the tabs is switched in both instances. This seems wrong. A tab is a a type of view, and I should be able to have two tabs open in two windows.

I love this addition!

But I’d really like a “badge” option, showing how many rows that view exposes. Just like we have for buttons – speaking of, perhaps you could re-use the button logic, letting us set a formula for the name and change color etc

Here’s a comparison

Do you already have a best practice how to “copy” existing views into new tabs? I have many tables where the different views (Table, Form, Cards) after each other. Now with the Tab I could bring them in one view.

But I cannot find the way to copy&paste table view settings such as filters, columns order, columns visibility, grouping etc. If I want to bring a separate table view under a Tab I have to re-create these settings (hidden columns, filter, sort, grouping, etc.) from scratch.

So maybe I just miss something and there is an easier way?

I think this is a browser issue: the browser keeps track of the state of pages of applications. Two tabs in one browser instance or two tabs in two browser instances are for Chrome, to the best of my knowledge the same thing.
What should work is using two different browsers (like Edge end Chrome side to side). Or opening an anonymus browser (CTRL-N in Chrome) - a new login is required though.

We’ve updated the behavior to allow different tabbed views to be selected in different browser tabs. Check it out and let us know how you like it!

Hi Lars, thanks for reporting. We’ve just updated the ObjectLink formula to generate a unique link, the same value you would get if you right-click on the tab. You may need to edit or recreate the formula to see the update.

Can’t attach a screen rec here but the ere is something weird going on on mobile. Let me explain.
Created 1 row with 4 canvas columns. In each canvas column inserted a chart table with canvas some filters. When I click on the kebab menu to switch to a tab, instead of opening the dropdown with listed tabs it opens the canvas column for view. Any ideas why that might be happening?

A feature request: Several people have asked me if there’s a way to bookmark a tab.

I know it’s not a usual feature, but it obviously makes sense to some people who want specific views from the same data.

Thanks for calling this out, Stefan! If you’re able to share a screen recording via DM or email and/or share the doc with support that will better help us reproduce and investigate.

I am traveling and not with laptop, so I will explain- users want to bookmark a specific table tab to My Bookmarks section of the doc. Is this a supported feature?

Thank you for adding an option to show row count!

I’m a little worried since I never got any response or credit though

Noted! Will take this feature request back to the team to consider. If you still need support with the mobile issue, feel free to message me or support directly with any repro details you can provide.

Exciting news – you can now drag and drop a view onto another view of the same table to convert to tabs! No more recreating from scratch needed. Read all about this change, other tabbed view improvements, and upcoming roundtables in @Ruggy_Joesten1 ‘s Friday Features post

We loved this idea! And you weren’t alone—we heard similar feedback from others too, so we shipped it this week. Ruggy’s Friday Features has the details plus other recent tabbed view updates.

This is great! But, is there anyway to take a view of a the base table (that was made prior to this update) and have it auto create the tab in the base table? This would allow for considerable table view consolidation/reduction in large docs.

As a side note, do these tabbed views behave the same way as “non-tabbed views” in regards to doc space? I’d also love to know in general if views (both tabbed, and non tabbed) effect doc size/performance?

Would also love to have a way to hide/show this on the Table Display options, i think currently the only way to “hide” these tabs on a view is by deleting them.

Although if these tabs do effect docsize/performance, this feature might not be the best cause it could allow for even more exponential view number growth.
