Currently the gear icon is where the settings for the doc/sections/pages are. I would prefer to see “Settings” instead of gear icon because it now feels like less important than Share and Explore. Also, Settings are a lot more often used that Share and Explore.
I would offer the following:
- The gear icon has become “the standard” icon for Settings across both desktop and mobile apps. So it’s easy for, regardless of language, for people to identify where the settings are.
- The icon takes up less space than 8 characters.
- It would be cleaner if they included “Share” and “Explore” within the Settings slide out.
