SimplaDocs Coda Hackathon - Win $250

Time to enter the first annual SimplaDocs hackathon, and maybe win $250 while you’re at it

Is this a good idea? I sure hope so, because it sounds really fun.

TLDR;
Simpladocs is doing an internal Hackathon during the holiday season and we thought it would be fun to run a public one in parrallel! Heres some more details for you:

  • What: A chance over the holidays to build something and win $250

  • Why: Why not? Are you really asking that question? Ok but really, at Simpladocs we love Coda and love seeing all the incredible things this community builds. We’d love to bring everyone in and see the great things you build with Coda!

  • When: Now - Sunday, January 4th. Judging will take place the week of Monday, Jan 5th

Basically, build something really amazing with Coda (though not limited JUST to Coda) and get a shot at winning $250.

What could you build?

  • A really cool AI workflow the utilizes Coda like an automatic poem generator
  • A rad flow between Coda <> Zapier that automates emails based on Coda form submissions

You can see the document below for more example ideas to get you started.

Also don’t worry, your entries won’t be judged against Simpla employees, we have our own internal one running.

This looks like a lot of fun.

I know it’s pretty open ended, but would you give the submissions any criteria? Like it should have x number of buttons or x numbers of formulas?

Great question, we don’t have specific criteria right now. We’re not simply looking for the most “technical” crazy formulas, we’re rather looking for something unique, fun, compelling or new.

Some people have mentioned they are going to do a larger AI workflow where Coda is just a piece of the puzzle, while others (in the holiday spirit) were going to make a doc to faciliatate a Secret Santa program with their friends while others were going to make a “New years resolution habit tracker”

Hi Scott,

Does the submission need to be a doc created over the next few weeks or can it be a doc where the creation work started earlier?

Best regards

Ideally, to make it fair, a majority of the work should happen by the deadline itself; otherwise, anyone could take a document or system that they spent YEARS refining and submit it.
