In my opinion, this is THE feature missing from CODA that would make it work for everything. It is a ‘small’ feature with Massive impact. I have now spent 3+ days scouring community forums and figuring out buttons and formulas trying to get simple due date reminders set up for my team. I’ve finally come to the conclusion that while there is some version of it, it’s not perfect and it will never be without intense coding & formulas on my part.
Think: Monday.com style notifications for tasks. Upcoming Due (7 days), and notification that a due date has passed. We need this feature WITHOUT having to create three separate columns and who knows how many formulas and figuring out what parameters are needed to disable buttons after they’re pushed.
#notifications #reminders #duedates #deadlines #taskmanagement.
Coda is great for a lot of things, but task management is not one of them.
Hi Abby,
Welcome to Coda, and the Community!
@Pablo_DV just made a post addressing a very similar topic here.
Coda’s abilities stretch very far beyond task management:
- Doc and Team hubs (wiki’s)
- Trackers and Apps
- Spreadsheets and databases
- Presentations
- Automations & Workflows
- Content management,
- Information repositories via packs
And yes, task and project management.
While Monday.com or clickup might be quicker out the box, I don’t think Coda was ever envisioned to be direct competition to task managers.
I have been using Coda as a VERY niche task manager for the last two years, and it has performed brilliantly. But my way of managing tasks is very different from your way of managing tasks. But Coda can do both. Monday.com, Clickup would never work for me. Once you have learned Coda, I am very certain it will work well for you too.

Hello @Abby_De_Leon ,
Actually, if I understand correctly what you are looking for, there are several ways of doing that.
If you want a list in Coda, you can use a filtered view of your task table, showing the only the task for a specific day (today?) or week, of for specific team members. You could set it up in such a way that team members only see their own tasks, or all tasks. All of this is very easy to accomplish, no buttons required, just filters.
The other option would be to run an automation once a day (like 1 AM or so) and send an email or notification to team-members about tasks due the upcoming day. Or send them a day in advance. Or…
You can send mails for all tasks to everyone, or specific tasks to certain team members.
If you want some help, share a doc that sort of resembles what you are trying to accomplish and make sure it is clear what this (sample) doc needs to do.
Greetings,
Joost
