BUG: Chinese pinyin input on Mac OS Safari duplicates latin characters randomly

Hello! Thank you for developing Coda

I’m trying to use Coda to assist in learning Chinese. Wiring down notes during the class, organising homework, all that.

However, there’s a pretty uncomfortable bug in Pinyin input: random pinyin letters are rendered as latin text at random moments when I type in Pinyin.

I have to remove it manually afterwards, and it is very confusing. When I’ve already spent a lot of brainpower on the task itself, this confusion easily overwhelms.

Here’s a screencast of this bug: https://youtu.be/oNRM4PQUHsQ

Welcome to the community :hugs:

This coda pack might be helpful ?

And an accompanying doc for it

Shout out to @Al_Chen_Coda

Hope this helps!
Cheers!

Hello! Thank you for the response!

macOS provides a native way to enter Chinese characters, it works across all the software.

I as a user tend to gravitate towards input methods provided by the operating system, as opposed to input methods specific for each web app. I feel it is a natural tendency.

It would be awesome to fix Coda’s input to support macOS’s Chinese input

I’ve found a few more bugs along the way, where cursor jumps all over the place. That happens if I use multline input (ie, A - shift+enter - B), and start to write Chinese on the second line. I can record a screencast if that would help.

Let me know if I can provide more information to help you with this bug. Thank you!
