Comments linked to hidden source table - how can that be?

I couldn’t figure out why all my users always ignored or missed the comments in a document where they were @. Yesterday, I asked someone why they didn’t respond and they said they got the email notification but when they clicked the link it didn’t go anywhere.

So I asked them to show me their screen and I was shocked at what was happening. Basically I created a very simple overview document where a user can go to their task and see the relevant information they need. It is a detailed view. So when user chooses a task they can see the status updates, make comments, etc. Very straightforward.

However, when i put @name into a comment column row and the user opens the email link it takes them to the master hidden table page where they can’t do anything.

I pray I am missing some setting or logic I have never seen but this is a huge flaw if users can’t comment in a cell in a view.

Anyone else run into to this?

Facing the same problem. It’s leading to lots of confusion.

Did you make a column called Comments, or are you referring to the comments section ?

I found some more threads by searching for “notifications” and found out that this is an issue for many. Please upvote this in the future product needs here: Add a custom link to notifications - Suggestion Box - Coda Maker Community

So I don’t think people get notifications if they are just mentioned in a text column like that. They’ll be notified if you mention them in them comments, like the actual comments of a row. And you can set it up so they’re notified if they are put into a People column as well. Could you do something like that?

Interesting. My team gets notifications when I @ someone in a row. But not good when they open link and get directed to an 80 column hidden table.

Actually, you shouldn’t quote me on anything.
