Darshan Hiranandani : Issue with Hover-over Preview Revealing Hidden Pages - Seeking Suggestions

Hello everyone,

I’m Darshan Hiranandani, came across a situation I’m unsure about and wanted to see if anyone else has experienced it or has any suggestions.

I have a table where one of the columns references another table that’s marked as hidden. However, when I publish the document and users hover over the chip in the published version, they can still access the hidden pages through a preview link. This feels like a potential flaw, as users can bypass the hidden page settings by clicking on the link within the preview.

In my specific case, on the published page for the Blueprint (Egyesek - ProfessionalED), if someone interacts with the select control, they can click on the list items, which leads them to the hidden page where the referenced table is located.

Does anyone have any suggestions or workarounds to prevent users from accessing hidden pages like this while navigating the published version? I feel it’s a bit illogical that this is possible, so I’m curious if others have any insights.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Regards
Darshan Hiranandani

Hi Darshan Hiranandani, welcome to the community!

Unfortunatelly, this is one of many instances where data that is meant to remain hidden can be easily accessed by unsuspecting users.

In this thread you can read about some other users asking for similar changes and we hope Coda will address them in the next months: Beta opportunity: New in-doc search - News from Coda - Coda Maker Community

For your specific case, Darshan Hiranandani, I would suggest that in the pages that are meant to be public you hide the column referencing the item and create an additional column that references just the name of the item.

Hope this helps you, Darshan Hiranandani, don’t hesitate to write if you have follow up questions.

Pablo
