I’m evaluating Coda as a possible replacement for Notion for our agency. Notion works great except that we have a master project database across all clients and team members and we can’t create project dashboards for our clients.
ISSUE ONE
I signed up for the Teams plan and followed the steps to export/import our project database into Coda. When I did so, I ran into a problem: the database only imported 1,000 items and gave me a message: “Limited to 1000 items. For the full list, refer to: [CSV file].”
Most of our current projects are missing. When I googled the issue, it said free plans were limited to 1000 items. Team plans should be unlimited. Is this a problem with the importer?
I followed the steps on this page:
ISSUE TWO
The 1,000 item database page is crashing. I use Firefox on a Macbook Pro (M1 chip, 16GB RAM) as my default browser and Coda is browser-only. Firefox is killing the page to save itself.
Do I need to use Chrome? (I would prefer a standalone app that I can CMD-TAB to but if I have to use a browser, I have a strong preference to using my existing browser.)
Those are the two issues I’ve run into so far and the first one is a potential deal killer but I’m assuming something is just wrong here and that I should be able to do a full migration. If so, I’ll continue evaluating and will likely have more questions!
I tried a second import and got the same 1,000 row result. This is a project database that goes back five years and has over 5,000 items.
I tried switching to Chrome and when I go to the new database import page, it’s a blank page. It has the page name and icon, but is otherwise completely empty.
Is there a support email? Or is it just the chatbot in the help center?
And does anyone from Coda monitor these forums? A reply from anyone would be super appreciated.
Have you tried chunking the file into 5 separate lists of 1,000?
This would most likely work fine and is ok for one off imports?

Daragh, first off, thanks for replying! I was looking for any lifeline.
I submitted a bug ticket and Coda has confirmed that this is a bug:
This is confirmation that we’ve verified this is a bug and have submitted your bug report to our internal tracker for our engineers to investigate further. We will update you when the bug has been fixed. Since turnaround time varies depending on severity, we’re unable to provide a clear timeline on when a fix will be available.
The import process generates a new database. Chunking the migration might be possible if I can merge databases in Coda. It looks like I’d have to buy a doc merge tool (pro versions allows merging more than two databases):
That’s the first hurdle. The second hurdle is that the export is like a 5,000+ page website with a master CSV, master HTML file, and thousands upon thousands of other files in various hashed folders. The masters look like they have different information in them and I’m not even sure they’re in the same sort order. Also not sure how to parse those thousands and thousands of other files (or if I would need to).
