Hello @Forrest_Kennedy and welcome to the community
Just to clarify, a person must be logged in to edit any doc, even if it is published.
That being said, there are two options:
-
If the user is in the same workspace and the doc was shared directly (by entering their email in the sharing options), they can find the doc on the Coda home page (
coda.io
) under the “Shared with me” tab.
-
In any other scenario (e.g., the user is in the workspace but the doc is shared globally or with the workspace; the doc is shared directly but the user is not in the workspace, etc.), they can only access the doc via the shared link.
- When a doc is shared directly with a user, they typically receive an email notification with the link.
- In other cases, as the maintainer/admin, you may need to send the link manually.
So, in your case, where the user clicked the link received by e-mail and then logged in or created an account, if I remember correctly, they are redirected to the Coda main page (coda.io
).
If the sharing option used was the second one I explained earlier, the user will need to go back to their email and click the link again to access the doc.
I could be wrong, but this is what I’ve observed.
Best regards,
Arnhold
