Request: Table Select List - Text Background Colour

It would be great if the select list in a table had a feature where each unique option was assigned a background colour, so that when viewing the table it is easier for users to recognise the selections when browsing tables

The current conditional formatting is a little lacking in this regarding, allowing only text colour or the cell background to be set. The way AirTable and Confluence do this is much better and more polished. Examples below:
