Table template -

Hello there! I have created a table, and now I need several others that will have different content, but the same columns names and columns properties than the original table. Is there any way to achieve this in Coda?

What would be the same in every table:

  • Column number
  • Column name and type
  • Select values

What would be different:

Text content of each cell.

Why do you have different tables, and not (filtered) views of the one table?

However, if you do want to create separate tables, when you make a copy, Coda will ask you whether you want a new table, or a view of the original table.

Hey there! The content on each table is different. What I would like to keep in sync are just the name of each column and amount of columns. When I copy and paste a table, Coda indeed will ask me what to do.

I can paste the table even without content, but if in the future I need to add another column, I understand that I will need to do this in every table I have in my document(s).

Let’s say that I have a table with columns “First name, Last name, Age, Gender, …” etc. I need to have these same columns every time, but the names and content inside will be different in each table.

So if later on I want to add an extra column, I’d like to avoid going one by one doing the manual work.

Which is why the universal recommendation you will find here is to have a single table, and split it into different views.

That could also be an option to experiment with. I will try this approach now before making a lot of progress. Thanks for the tip.
