Add more colors supported by Google Sheets and other apps, so that can migrate from spreadsheets and other docs :)

8 colors in Coda is too few for document editing software  And when porting a doc from Excel or Word, for example, that relies on more colors or specific company/brand colors, that is a deal-breaker
2) For the same reason, would be key to just port the same common text formatting styles and colors, which are standard in Word, Excel and other standard editing software. This way it would be easy for users to port docs from Word and Excel, or at least to re-create something similar in Coda without the loss of fonts and especially color markings. :+1::+1::grinning:

Thanks for the suggestion. It is there on our radar but I have passed it onto the team again.

+1 That would be great!
I think that the overall color topic might be enhanced: also in conditional formatting having color variables (and not only a fixed set) could help a lot.

Cheers,

Yes, color variables are sorely needed! I have a table with task statuses + colors, and another table that references these rows. Two options I explored for getting these colors to show up in the second table:

  1. Conditional Formatting
This doesn’t work well because the color has to be hardcoded, and can’t be looked-up from the value of the first table. Also, having more than one status in a row is tedious because the Applies To rule can’t be dynamically set, so I need a separate CF rule for each status column.

  2. Coloring the text/bg in a formula for the Display Column
This also doesn’t work because the Display Column doesn’t respect coloring at all, when displayed in other tables.
