I own a company and just starting out with Coda. I hired someone on Upwork to get me started by having them create a doc with tables that link together. I invited them to my account, and they moved / shared the docs. However, it looks like the tables / docs are “read only”. There is a button to “Request Edit Access” but the person isn’t responding.
Is there anything I can do at this point? I can “Copy” and edit, but I don’t think anything would be linked.
Any help or pointers appreciated. Pretty disappointing they arent responding because they’re paid and it wasnt cheap…
Could you clarify if your task involves working with several separate docs connected through sync tables, or if everything is organized within a single doc?
Did the creator or executor provide you with any specific instructions for the task?
If possible, could you share the technical specification or any additional details to help us understand the context better?
Have you had a chance to copy the document into your workspace to test its functionality?
sorry to read about your disappointment.
maybe the consultant is still on holiday and returns Monday?
anyway, as @Tamerlan_PRO suggested please create a copy and share a version without sensitive data here in the community. there are always people who love to help you out.
cheers, Christiaan
This is basically only 2 docs (one parent, and one child) . In total, the parent has 3 pages, and each page just has 1 table.
The tables link together.
When I create a copy im able to edit the info, but some columns says “no edit access - in order to edit this table you need edit access to the source document”.
Im assuming this is because when I made a “Copy”, it still links back to the original source doc, and not the copy of the source doc.
Im attaching a couple screen shots for context. All of this info in the table is sample info but I redacted some items and name of creator.
PS. Im a new user to this forum so its only allowing me upload 1 screenshot. Ill upload the second in a following post.
A copy is an independent version of the doc, formulas will not point to the source doc.
Possibly there is some cross doc functionality with a doc you don’t know about, but more likely, there are some formulas causing this behavior on purpose. If you are new to Coda, you might have a hard time to find these, but when you made a copy, you become the owner (admin) of the copied doc and you have access to all hidden pages, formulas, table settings, etc.
If you want, I can take a look, but in order to do so, you have to share your doc with me: joostmineur@gmail.com (non-disclosure guaranteed).
hi @Nicholas_Stewart , I strongly suggest to accept the generous offer from @joost_mineur a fellow champion, he knows very well what he is doing. Cheers, Christiaan
would you please come back to @joost_mineur with your feedback.
did the consultant wake up and respond to you?
looking forward reading you, cheers, christiaan
