If first letter in cell in table is accent, than it shows "Dead"

If first letter in cell in table is accent, than it shows “Dead”.

How to reproduce:

  • Create new table
  • Type diacritical sign as first key, eg. ˇ for letter Ž, like in czech word Želva. Another accents behaves same, eg. ¨ for letter Ö like in german word Österreich
  • See “Dead”

Expected:

  • I can start normal typing like with chars without diacritic. If I want write Zelva without Ž, than it behaves correctly.

Workarounds:

  • Use Caps Lock + ž
  • Enter edit mode of the cell via double click first

Tested in latest Chrome in Kubuntu Linux. It looks like it want to show something like “dead letter”. I see that error often now as our team is now in sprint series with codename Želva 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and I am starting with ˇ quite often now.

Ah, so the accents do that! Thanks, we tried to report this bug years ago, but could not reproduce it. Hopefully, someone picks up on this and corrects it. It is utterly confusing our regular users (who are a bit baffled by the interface from the start anyway).

Have you tried reporting it as a bug to the Coda directly?

No, I thought this report is proper way how to do it, but to my dissatisfaction nobody reacted since.

Hello @Daniel_Noga_2N ,

The question mark in bottom right of your document is for support - the support crew is generally very helpful and they either help you or they can pass it through to the developers.
The community can sometimes help, but if nobody knows the answer, there might not be a response.

Greetings,
Joost

As per a recent e-mail, the support@coda.io address should work too.
