Improve your Pack descriptions to boost discoverability

As you may have read about, we recently made some improvements to the search and discovery experience for Packs. You all have built some amazing Packs, and we want to make sure they get into the hands of users!

We started by overhauling the search infrastructure, allowing us to tune the ranking algorithms and incorporate more data points. This not only improved the quality of the search results, but allowed us to deliver more fine-grained suggestions. The slash menu and Insert panel now surface individual Pack building blocks related to the query, better connecting the dots for the user.

To make sure you are leveraging these new entry points, take a moment and check the quality and completeness of the descriptions in your Pack. It’s easy to forget about the help text in the heat of coding, but it can help drive more awareness of your Pack (in addition to making it easier to use).

The new search infrastructure indexes the following data:

  • Pack name
  • Tagline
  • Description
  • Building block names**
  • Building block descriptions

** Avoid changing building block names, as that would break existing users of your Pack.

If you have any questions or comments about these changes don’t hesitate to ask!
