My team almost exclusively uses Coda with our iPads. We would love to see some basic improvements to either the app, or the website, or both.
Issues on the website (ordered from most annoying to least):
- Expanding/collapsing a collapsable section will always bring up the keyboard after. This is very annoying if you are expanding and collapsing a lot of sections in a short time
- You have to double tap some elements to have anything happen. Why? Some examples:
- If a table doesn’t have “focus” or something, it takes 2 taps to do anything, like expand a row (even if the expand row button is pinned), or clicking a filter.
- Closing a row takes 2 taps on the “X”
- The keyboard also always pops up when changing a Select control or a User control. The cursor goes into the search box. That is fine for really big lists, but for 5-10 options, it’s very annoying on a touch device. It would be great to have an option to just disable search on a Select control so we could fine tune it ourselves.
Issues on the app:
- Mostly just how tables are displayed
- If displayed as a table, the info it displays is so random. Sometimes it only shows 1 field, sometimes it shows 5 or 6 fields. The order is also all over the place and just looks bad.
- If displayed as cards, it looks better, but it’s just a single vertical column of cards. This makes sense for a phone, but for an iPad it’s annoying you have to scroll more than you should. It would be great to have 2 or 3 columns of cards.
- For Cross-doc tables, there is no way to manually refresh the data
- Same issue with the Select/User controls as above.
