Mobile Table Layout Algorithm Detail?

Hi Coda Team

I know that coda mobile app renders layout via a “smart algorithm”, it does work pretty well in my limited experience with Coda

But is there any documentation, or explanation of how it work, or how it decides what goes where?

While the result mobile layout looks nice to the eye, I do need to place certain information (columns) in certain order or location for it to make sense to my users, currently my experience with ordering them has been guessing and struggling.

For most tables, Coda automatically chooses a mobile-optimized card layout based on the data in the table. In some cases, no card fits well and Coda will show the table.

in other words, how “automatically” works under the hood?

I refer to your screenshot as the “crappy mobile view”

I have spend a lot of time trying to learn how to never see that view, I would much rather make a page specific for the iphone or the ipad.

It has to do with whether or not the “display column” is hidden or not on the page

Hi Nick

Do you have any tips or examples to share? this view is from Coda Doc, not the best but functional. But I couldn’t even figure out how to get to this level yet

I believe if you make the display column hidden from your page, the mobile view will not be altered into the “mobile” layout
