Happens wether or not the page is locked, and it intersects with other objects. Haven’t found a way to get rid of it 
I am apart of the Timeline beta, not sure if that has anything to do with it.

I’ve also had issues with this, mainly when you reference a sync table with a formula and display it in a layout as a table, there’s no way to hide it

Ditto for me. The forced inclusion of what is a valuable feature breaks my layout and UX flow. We should have the option to display, no?
