The new Table Options dropdown should include Sort and Conditional Formatting

I’m not against the idea of hiding table options behind a dropdown, but why are Sort and Conditional Format under See all options? Shouldn’t they be up there with Display, Filter, Group, and Columns? Why only four of the six items? Was there really not enough room for just two more things? It seems so arbitrary.

I can kind of understand not including Table locking, Published forms, Connections, etc. since those are less commonly accessed. But surely there’s room for two extra items that we use pretty frequently?

Heck, here’s a mockup.

Like… that looks fine, right? I can’t imagine this would do all that much to scare off new users. But it’d keep those pa within two clicks, which isn’t as great as being just one click away like with old Coda, but it’s FAR better than being THREE clicks away…

Edit:

Actually why not just—

I even got the Layout Selector in there. It looks great.

Like, I get that that’s a LONG list of stuff, and it might look overwhelming to new users. But maybe it could be toggleable in the user settings panel for those of us who are comfortable with it? Like, honestly, this would be a huge upgrade for power users, even compared to the old setup. It’s both cleaner AND faster than the old way.

Can we have this? Please? :backhand_index_pointing_right::backhand_index_pointing_left:

P.S.: maybe an option to have the dropdown appear with a hover instead of a click. That way we’d still have the one-click paradigm from before the update, while retaining the cleaner functionality of the new update.

Indeed, both solutions would be interesting.

@Emma_Wyatt Pinging you in here, I observed a lot of friction with my clients after the new UI refresh. The new UI is hiding things that are used on a daily basis such as formatting as is being pointed out in here, copying the share link and so on.

it would make so much more sense to have an option to expand this menu right there on the spot

I’m just now realizing the possible logic for why they didn’t add Format to the dropdown:

They expect users to right-click a column to get to Conditional Formatting.

It does make a bit of sense, in that you usually only apply Conditional Formatting with specific columns in mind. Still sucks for those of us who have relied on muscle memory to get there. And also for those who just want to adjust all of our conditions, instead of creating a new one.
