Upload custom icons for sections

What I dont understand, is why coda does not want to do that ? I assume that technically, compared to lots of other features they have deployed, it’s a kiddy game. I don’t understand the geopolitical out there :hugs:

Unfortunately this is one of the times that Business Decisions wins over User Experience

It is not that big of a problem, I found Coda as a combination of Airtable + Notion; not to mention that Coda is much better than Airtable in terms of the easiness to write functions.

Great work, ok I am not happy but also as UX it is not always following what would make the user happy.

This is extremely necessary, we have our own internal icon system and Coda’s clashes very poorly with it unfortunately.

This feature request migth sound stupid/simple on the surface, but I noticed that this is the number one thing that I miss from Notion. Being able to attach customer logos to the individual projects make it easier to navigate around, and also feels more homely. It’s one of those little things that makes you want to spend more time in Coda.

+1 for me. We’ve built a company style guide on fontawesomeand would love to leverage those within coda too!

The use of custom icons or even better, custom images, seems to be a glaring omission. Why provide the option to use icons in so many unique and useful places, then cripple that functionality by providing such a limited set of options?

Look at the difference for my index page where I have to use your icons vs. my custom images. Night and day difference!!

Please consider adding this feature to allow us to properly showcase our brands, products, and custom graphics in ways that are just as unique and powerful as the rest of the Coda app.

I too would love the ability to add custom icons. I work in the global health sector and am finding the icons to be very Euro-centric (particularly any icons featuring people or body parts) so it can be hard to find appropriate icons to represent the countries and contexts we work in.

+1 This feature would be great to have so we can have consistent branding

This was suggested in 2020 and it still is not possible? That is really disappointing - This is a huge +

+1 for me as well. I use color coded icons for docs in the same folders, so I know which belongs where. If nothing else, different colors for the same icon would be a nice alternative. e.g., different color circles.

+1! We need that ASAP please

+1!!! This might seem like a small thing, but everyone in my company is waiting hopefully for this feature to be implemented soon. This is by far the most important feature that we are missing when comparing to Notion.

Surely this has to be one of the top requests out there. If implementing icon upload is a scale issue perhaps consider adding icon packs like Noun Project.

Upvoting this idea! Our clients are actually asking for this customization but we are unable to deliver. I hope this will be implemented soon!

+1 for me. Would love to link to my fontawesome account or just upload my own set of icons. Bluntly, your selection is pretty thin and there is no consistent theme (like fontawesome offers).

Don’t worry, I love coda enough to have a paid personal and paid work account

Dear Coda, A compromise,
From what I can research, it looks like you are using Icons8’s Color styles for the current icon set. Is there any reason you can’t enable that entire set? The set is great, but is missing several of the icons included. Example: Letters, you have HRSUW. Why not the entire alphabet? Another example is the Webflow brand icon. This would be a huge help. Thoughts, ideas?

To the other posters here. I’m not at all saying we shouldn’t have custom options, but this at least would give us more icons to choose from.

Hi @anon51344829! I was the engineer who worked on the initial icons integration and wanted to be transparent that we actually haven’t kept Coda up to date with the latest icons on Icons8, in part due to API updates on their end. Also, the icons that we made available were ones available both in the Color and Material set, and I think some icons were missing from one of the sets, which is why they’re missing from Coda’s set of icons.

We have an item on our backlog to revisit updating our icon set but haven’t been able to scope it over other work, so we appreciate you posting to help us prioritize. Hope this explains things in the meantime though!

It does! And I appreciate you taking the time respond.

+1 custom icons please! In particular, when creating product and internal support wiki pages specific to our own products and features, being able to differentiate them with our own product icons would be incredibly helpful.
