Collapsible columns in tables

Hi all,

I’m fairly new to Coda and I’m wondering if there’s an option to collapse or expand individual columns within a table.

My goal is to keep the workspace cleaner for users, since some columns are only used occasionally. Ideally, those columns could stay hidden until a user chooses to expand them.

Simply hiding columns doesn’t solve the problem for two reasons:

  1. Users only see a generic “Show/Hide columns” menu. They don’t know which specific columns are currently hidden, so they don’t know when to unhide them.

  2. If they do choose to unhide, they usually end up revealing all the unnecessary columns at once, which defeats the purpose.

Is there a way to make specific columns collapsible/expandable, similar to how we can collapse sections or groups?

If you know a way to achieve this, I’d really appreciate your guidance. Thank you!

Hi Joseph,

There’s no way of showing/hiding columns dynamically. A simple solution to your problem would be:

  • Create other pages with views where different columns are displayed, depending on the use-case
  • Create buttons on top of each view to easily navigate between them

Hope this helps,

Pablo
