Reliable On-Time Notifications: Add Native "Row Date/Time Trigger"

Hello Coda Community and Development Team,

My team and I have been using Coda to build an essential HR Task Tracking tool for managing deadlines and reminders. We’ve encountered a key limitation in the automation engine that, if solved, would unlock countless new use cases.

Currently, to send a reminder for a task due at a specific time (e.g., 2:30 PM), we must set up a Time-based automation that runs periodically (e.g., every hour)

The Proposal: Native “Row Time-Trigger”

I propose adding a new automation trigger type that is native to the row, similar to how the @remind command works in other modern tools.

Desired Functionality:

In the “When” section of an automation, I would like to select an option like:

“When Row Time is Reached”

  • Column to use: [Notify me:] (Your Date and Time column)

  • Margin (Optional): Send notification 5 minutes before

I hope you find this interesting! See yah
